Acer Launches 11.6-inch Aspire One 751 Netbook

Taiwanese manufacturer Acer has announced a rather interesting laptop featuring a 11.6-inch LCD screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The 751 is based on the usual Netbook blueprint from Intel. An Atom processor (a Z520 running at 1.33GHz only), a Mobile US15W Express chipset from the same manufacturer, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard disk drive, Dolby Pro Logic sound certification and a 6-cell 5200mAh battery that promises 8 hours worth of computing.

Acer's latest netbook also comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G option as well as a multi-card reader. The 1-inch thick laptop comes with the usual array of in/out ports, including a VGA output, USB ports and an ethernet jack. The WXGA backlit LED display can display 1366x768 pixels - ideal for HD content - and has a rather thin frame with a webcam sitting on top of it.

Customers will be able to choose between Windows XP and Vista. The release date has yet to be confirmed but it will apparently be sold for around £350. A more expensive version will include 2GB memory, Vista Home Basic and 250GB hard disk drive.

The netbook will be available in red, white, blue and black and comes with a one year internal traveller's warranty. Acer has also released a number of more traditional laptops under the Timeline brand. According to early previews, their battery life are expected to be within touching distance of 9 hours.
